What turnkey EPC means at Renesys

EPC stands for Engineering, Procurement and Construction. With turnkey EPC you deal with one company, and that company is accountable for the whole plant: the design, the equipment, the build, the approvals and the generation. You don’t have to chase a module supplier, an installer and a liaison agent separately.

01

Rooftop solar

On your own factory or warehouse roof, connected behind your meter. Most plants we build are 200 kWp to 1.5 MWp.

02

Ground-mount captive

On land away from your factory, with the power wheeled to you through the grid. Typically 1 MWp to 10 MWp, on your own or leased land.

What’s included

  • Energy assessment: analysis of your last 12 months of bills, load profile and contract demand, so the plant is sized to how you actually use power.
  • Site survey: roof structure or land check, shading study, and the route to your HT panel or the GETCO substation.
  • Engineering and design: layout, structural design, string and inverter design, single-line diagram and protection scheme.
  • Procurement: made-in-India N-type TOPCon modules, string inverters and balance of system from approved makes.
  • Approvals and liaison: GEDA registration, DISCOM feasibility and connectivity, the Chief Electrical Inspector’s charging approval, and wheeling and SLDC/REMC data links for captive plants.
  • Installation: done around your production shifts, with transit and erection-all-risk insurance in our scope.
  • Grid connection: for ground-mount captive plants, the 11 kV line to the GETCO substation is included in the price.
  • Commissioning and handover: testing, DISCOM meter fitment, O&M manual and monitoring access.
  • First-year O&M at no charge: we operate and maintain the plant for 12 months after commissioning, spares included.

Pricing for your plant

Every plant is priced for its own site, so we don’t publish a rate card. The price depends on:

01

Size and type

Rooftop or ground-mount captive, and the capacity. Larger plants cost less per kWp.

02

Your roof or land

Roof type and strength, structure height, and for captive plants, the distance to the GETCO substation.

03

Equipment choice

Module and inverter makes. Module prices also move with the market, so every quote is current.

04

Scope

What’s in our scope and what’s in yours, such as land development, safety railing or metering at your factory end.

What you get back: send us your last 12 months of electricity bills and we’ll reply with a plant size, a firm price, expected generation and payback for your plant. For reference, a 1 MWp rooftop plant in Gujarat produces about 14.5 lakh units a year. At HT power costs of ₹7.50–8.50 per unit all-in, that’s over ₹1 crore a year off your bill, and plants typically pay back in 3–5 years.

How long it takes

Stage Rooftop Ground-mount captive
Bill analysis, survey and proposal 1–2 weeks 2–4 weeks (land and grid route)
Order, advance and detailed design 1–2 weeks 2–3 weeks
Approvals (GEDA, DISCOM feasibility) Runs in parallel Runs in parallel; DISCOM 11 kV confirmation is the key gate
Supply and installation 75–90 days from order ~4 months from DISCOM 11 kV confirmation
CEI inspection, meter fitment and commissioning Included above Included above

Approval timelines depend on the DISCOM and GETCO, so we start the paperwork on day one. Example: for a 935 kWp rooftop plant at an ice-cream factory, GEDA registration was in April 2023, and the plant was inspected and cleared for charging in August 2023.

Why Gujarat manufacturers choose Renesys

01

One point of accountability

From bill analysis to DISCOM meter fitment.

02

Approvals in-house

GEDA, DISCOM, CEI, GETCO and SLDC liaison is our job, not yours.

03

We stay after commissioning

Most of our EPC customers keep us on for O&M, so we design plants we’ll have to run ourselves.

04

Generation you can hold us to

We guarantee 75% annual performance ratio on ground-mount captive projects.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a solar EPC project cost in Gujarat?

It depends on the plant size and type, your roof or land, the equipment and the scope, so we price every plant individually. Send us your last 12 months of electricity bills and we will reply with a firm price, expected generation and payback. Most industrial plants pay back in 3–5 years.

How long does it take to install a solar plant for a factory?

A rooftop plant is typically supplied and installed within 75–90 days of the order. A ground-mount captive plant takes about four months from the DISCOM’s 11 kV connection approval. Approvals run in parallel with design and supply.

What approvals does an industrial solar plant need in Gujarat?

GEDA registration, DISCOM technical feasibility and connectivity, and the Chief Electrical Inspector’s charging approval. A captive plant also needs a wheeling arrangement and an SLDC/REMC data link. Renesys handles all of these as part of the EPC contract.

What is the difference between EPC and turnkey solar?

EPC covers engineering, procurement and construction. Turnkey means you receive a finished, working plant from one contractor. Renesys EPC is turnkey: it includes approvals, grid connection, commissioning and the first year of O&M.

Should I choose rooftop or ground-mount captive solar?

Rooftop is cheaper and quicker when you have a strong, unshaded roof. Ground-mount captive suits plants whose demand is bigger than the roof can supply, or whose roofs are old or unsuitable. Under Gujarat’s policy, captive plants don’t pay cross-subsidy or additional surcharge.

What happens after commissioning?

We operate and maintain the plant free for the first year, spares included. From year two, most customers continue with a Renesys O&M contract.
